John and JoAnn Braheny will return to the Song
and Word Writers Retreat on beautiful Shaw Island, in the San Juan Islands, off the coast of Washington.
Here's a description of last year's retreat:
Our hosts, Sharon Wootton and Maggie Savage, made us feel so comfortable
with their gracious hospitality and delicious cooking (including salads picked fresh
from their veggie garden)!
Imagine -- you're on an island in the Pacific Northwest
surrounded by towering pine trees, deer, great blue herons,
geese, egrets, eagles, observed from a glassed-in view of the harbor,
hot tub under the stars, grand piano and all the comforts.
Total quiet, except for a few night frogs calling out to each other, and raccoons
cracking open crab shells down by the water's edge.
This was our first time to be so rudely heckled by nine very curious harbor seals hauling
their gray blubbery selves up on nearby rocks to better hear our songwriting
workshop, applauding and barking out their 'critiques.' Hilarious.

want to take some time to focus on learning a bit more about the craft
of songwriting, collaboration techniques, marketing your songs, and
